St. Andrew & Holy Communion participates in a variety of services to the community throughout the year.
In January, celebrating the birth of Jesus, the church presents gifts of disposable diapers to the North Porch Women and Infants' Center, an emergency service providing supplies of formula, baby food, diapers, clothing, and bed linens for needy mothers and children up to age four in Newark, Paterson, Dover and surrounding communities.
Clothing for Children, Women and Men
Clothing is collected throughout the year for men, women and children shelters and disseminated to various local agencies.
We participate in the Soup Kitchen located at Holy Trinity Church in West Orange. Providing nutritious noontime meals to the homeless and poor, volunteers from area churches prepare and serve the food.
Interfaith Hospitality Network
We are a participating church with the Interfaith Hospitality Network for Homeless of Essex County, a volunteer led non-profit organization, partners with other religious congregations to shelter and support homeless families and help them gain self-sufficiency.
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity Newark is dedicated to building simple, decent homes in Essex County, N.J.
Help for Darfur
SAHC has donated books and school supplies for the children of Darfur refugee camps and is working to spread the news of the deadly conflict in Darfur, a region of Sudan, Africa.
Canned goods and other non-perishable offerings are donated and sent to various local agencies.
A parish Social Worker provides opportunities for people in the congregation and community to receive much needed clinical and spiritual help.
